Ballet classes that balance technique and joy
Ballet gives dancers an extraordinary foundation. It develops posture, coordination, musicality, strength, control and attention to detail, but we believe children learn those skills best when their classes are also engaging, encouraging and enjoyable.
At Theative Performing Arts, our ballet classes in Streatham combine high-quality technical training with musicality, imagination and performance. We want dancers to understand how movement works, enjoy the process of improving and feel proud of what they can achieve.
Ballet for toddlers and preschoolers
Our youngest dancers discover ballet through music, stories, props and imaginative adventures.
Early years classes introduce the foundations of ballet in a developmentally appropriate way, helping little dancers build coordination, listening skills, confidence and independence without expecting them to learn like older children.
Children can begin their ballet journey with us from just 18 months old, with classes designed to grow with them through the preschool years and beyond.
Ballet for children and teens
As dancers grow, classes become progressively more technical while retaining the warmth and creativity that characterise our teaching.
Students develop:
Ballet vocabulary and technique
Posture, alignment and control
Strength and flexibility
Coordination and musicality
Artistry and performance quality
We offer pathways for developing dancers, including classes suitable for enthusiastic beginners and students working towards graded ballet examinations.
Additional ballet technique training is also available for appropriate students who need a second weekly class to support their graded development.
Progress matters more than perfection
We want our students to aim high, but we don't expect them to get everything right straight away.
Dancers are encouraged to understand that corrections, challenges and mistakes are all part of learning. We celebrate effort and progress while helping each student develop the resilience and confidence to keep working towards their goals.
Our classes are intentionally kept small, giving teachers the opportunity to know their dancers individually, provide meaningful corrections and support each student's development.
Adult ballet in Streatham
Ballet isn't only for children.
Our adult ballet class in Streatham offers a welcoming weekly space to work on technique, strength, flexibility and musicality while enjoying an hour devoted to movement and yourself.
Whether you're discovering ballet for the first time or returning after time away, you don't need to fit a particular idea of what a ballet dancer should look like to belong in the studio.
